Specialized supervision for MFT licensure and AASECT certification — and expert consultation for clinicians navigating complex sexual health cases.

Supervision & Consultation

This stage of your professional development is a significant one. You've done the academic work, and now you're in the room with real people, navigating real complexity, and figuring out who you are as a clinician. That process is exciting and disorienting in equal measure, and supervision is where it actually takes shape.

The same is true for clinicians stepping into sex therapy work specifically. Even experienced therapists can find themselves underprepared when sexuality enters the room: not because of any failing, but because most training programs still treat it as a peripheral topic rather than a clinical essential.

Good supervision in this area changes that.

I offer individual supervision for pre-licensed MFTs working toward licensure in Minnesota, individual supervision for clinicians pursuing AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) certification, and professional consultation for licensed clinicians seeking expert input on complex sexual health cases.

Each of these is distinct, and each is something I take seriously.

How I Supervise

My approach to supervision is collaborative, direct, and grounded in real-world clinical application. I'm not the type of supervisor who sits back and observes from a distance: I'm in it with you.

I show up as a teacher when you need clear guidance, a coach when you're building skill and confidence, and a mentor when you're working out who you are as a therapist.  We'll work through the clinical pieces (e.g., case conceptualization, treatment planning, ethics, risk, and documentation) and also the internal experience of being a therapist.

The moments of doubt?

The emotional complexity of sitting with difficult material?

The 'I hope I handled that okay' thoughts that follow you home?

Those belong in supervision, too.  I don't expect perfection. What I value is curiosity, reflection, and a genuine willingness to grow. If you bring those, we have something to work with.  Supervision is also where your professional identity takes shape — not by trying to become someone else's version of a good therapist, but by getting clearer on your own voice, your own presence, and what feels authentic to you in the room.

That's some of the most meaningful work we do together!

What We Work On Together

Supervision with me covers both the technical and the human dimensions of clinical work. Depending on your needs and where you are in your training, we typically work across some combination of the following:

•      Clinical skill building: case conceptualization, treatment planning, and therapeutic structure that still feels warm and relational

•       Sexual health competence and comfort: building confidence discussing sexuality in clinically meaningful, nuanced, and non-pathologizing ways, including anatomy, desire styles, arousal patterns, kink, trauma, shame, and identity

•       Therapeutic presence and professional identity: your tone, pacing, intuition, emotional regulation, and the way you show up in the room; this is where your clinical voice gets built

•       Complex cases and ethical decision-making: navigating the gray areas: relational conflict, trauma activation, disclosures, boundaries, safety concerns, power dynamics, and the ethics of it all

•       Working with sexual shame: recognizing shame-based patterns in the room and responding in ways that are attuned, invitational, and non-pathologizing, without rushing the process or over-functioning

•       Sustainable practice: burnout, emotional saturation, clinical limits, and building a career that doesn't hollow you out

Supervision for Pre-Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists

Individual MFT Supervision
For pre-licensed MFTs working toward licensure in Minnesota (telehealth and/or in-person).

As a Minnesota Board-Approved MFT Supervisor, I provide individual supervision that supports both your licensure requirements and your development as a relational, systems-thinking clinician. We work on the clinical foundations (i.e., assessment, treatment planning, documentation, ethics, and risk) alongside the relational and systemic frameworks that make MFT work distinctive.

For supervisees who are also doing or interested in sex therapy work, this is a natural place to begin building that competency within the supervision relationship, and there are options to combine MN MFT supevision + AASECT CST supervision.

What We Focus On
•Case conceptualization and treatment planning with real-time clinical application

•Building therapeutic presence, pacing, and confidence in the room

•Ethics, documentation, mandated reporting, and boundary navigation

•Relational and systemic thinking across individual, couple, and family work

•Professional identity development and sustainable practice

Fee
$80 per individual session (0-60 min.)
$150 per combined AASECT + MFT individual session (0-60 min.)

Supervision for AASECT Sex Therapist Certification (CST)

Individual AASECT CST Supervision
For licensed or pre-licensed clinicians pursuing AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) certification (telehealth and/or in-person)

AASECT certification is a meaningful credential, and getting there requires supervision from someone who actually understands the process, the requirements, and the clinical depth the certification demands.

As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor (CST-S), I provide supervision that is both credentialing-compliant and genuinely formative.  This work goes beyond checking boxes for your AASECT hours. We build real sexual health competency -- the kind that makes you a clinician people can trust to handle this material well.

That means getting comfortable with explicit clinical conversations about sexuality, understanding the research, developing nuanced assessment skills, and learning how to hold sexual content in the therapeutic relationship without flinching or overreacting.  If you're a licensed clinician making the transition into sex therapy work — or deepening what you already do — this is the right place to do it.

What We Focus On
•Developing comfort and clinical competence in discussing sexuality openly and explicitly
•Assessment and treatment of desire discrepancies, sexual functioning concerns, trauma, and identity factors
•Navigating shame, internalized stigma, and relational patterns around sexuality, in clients and in yourself
•Building skill in working with individuals, couples, and complex relational dynamics
•Guidance through AASECT requirements, case documentation, and the certification process

Fee
$150 per individual session (0-60 min.)

Professional Consultation

Professional Consultation
For licensed clinicians seeking expert input on complex sexual health, intimacy, or atypical attractions cases — virtual or in-person in MN

Sometimes you're working with a client presenting something outside your usual scope: a complex paraphilia, an OCSB presentation you haven't seen before, a trauma that's showing up specifically in sexuality, or a relational dynamic you're not sure how to hold.

You don't need ongoing supervision.

You need an informed clinical conversation with someone who knows this territory.  That's what consultation is for.

I offer one-off or short-term professional consultation for licensed clinicians across mental health, healthcare, and related fields. You bring the case, the question, or the clinical complexity — I bring 16+ years of specialized experience in sexual health, trauma, and working with stigmatized populations. We think through it together.

Consultation is also available for organizations or clinical teams looking for expert input on policy development, clinical protocols, or staff training around sexual health topics.

Consultation if a Good Fit If…
•You have a client presenting with sexual health concerns outside your area of specialty and want a clinical consult before proceeding
•You're navigating a complex ethical situation involving sexuality, consent, or atypical attractions and want a thought partner
•Your organization is developing clinical protocols or training around sexual health and needs expert input
•You want a one-time or short-term consultation without the commitment of an ongoing supervision relationship

Fee
$150 per hour

Why Work With Jess

There's no shortage of supervisors. There are far fewer who specialize in sexual health, who are AASECT-credentialed, and who have spent their entire career working at the intersection of sexuality, trauma, and relational therapy.

I hold a Minnesota Board-Approved MFT Supervisor designation and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor (CST-S) credential. Meaning, I'm qualified to supervise both MFT licensure and AASECT certification, and to do both simultaneously when that's what a supervisee needs.

Beyond credentials, what I bring is a genuine investment in your development. I've supervised clinicians at all stages — from newly licensed therapists finding their footing to experienced practitioners expanding into sex therapy work for the first time. I know what it feels like to sit with clinical uncertainty, to wonder if you handled something right, to carry the weight of complex cases. That experience shapes how I show up as a supervisor.

This isn't one-size-fits-all. It's supervision that fits you.
